Spain, Portugal & Morocco Golf Tour – Another Unforgettable Journey!
With our 4th Spain, Portugal & Morocco Golf Tour done and dusted for another year, it’s time to look back on 22 unforgettable days filled with world-class golf, fascinating history, fabulous food and wonderful memories.
Spain – Royal Welcomes, Remarkable Golf & Rich History
Madrid set the scene for a spectacular start to our tour. What a welcome we received, watching King Felipe VI’s military parade at El Escorial, followed by an up-close introduction to our first golf course, Real Club de Golf La Herrería.
Our guided tour of Madrid took in some of the city’s great attractions, including the world-class art of the Prado Museum, the spectacular new-look Santiago Bernabéu Stadium, home of Real Madrid, and the famous Plaza de Toros bullring.
Next, we headed south by fast train via Córdoba, where we enjoyed a wonderful visit to La Mezquita, the extraordinary Mosque-Cathedral renowned for its distinctive red-and-white striped arches and fascinating history dating back to the 8th century.
We then settled into five luxurious nights in Marbella, playing some of Spain’s finest golf courses. Highlights included Real Club Valderrama, ranked among the country’s very best; Finca Cortesin, host of the 2023 Solheim Cup; and the spectacular La Hacienda, with its magnificent views towards the Rock of Gibraltar.
Our Spanish adventure continued in Jerez with a memorable visit and lunch at the famous Tío Pepe Winery, before spending two nights in beautiful Seville. Exploring this historic city was a treat, and a guided tapas tour gave the group a delicious taste of authentic Andalusian culture.
Portugal – Coastal Golf & Pastéis de Nata
Crossing the border into Portugal, we enjoyed another five nights of luxury at the Ritz-Carlton Penha Longa Resort, nestled within the beautiful Sintra-Cascais Natural Park.
A feast of golf followed, with rounds at some of the Lisbon region’s outstanding courses, including West Cliffs, Penha Longa and Oitavos Dunes. From dramatic Atlantic Ocean views to challenging layouts, the golf was every bit as memorable as the scenery.
Of course, no visit to Lisbon would be complete without sampling the famous Portuguese custard tarts, pastéis de nata! Some of our group even tried their hand at making these delicious treats during a cooking class, while others explored Lisbon’s sights aboard its iconic yellow vintage trams.
Morocco – Desert Golf & Magical Marrakech
For the final leg of our 22-day adventure, we flew to the Kingdom of Light – Morocco, spending five nights in the vibrant and colourful city of Marrakech.
The desert golf was something special, with rounds at the highly anticipated Akenza, Al Maaden and the historic Royal Marrakech Golf Club, offering a wonderful contrast to the coastal and parkland courses we had enjoyed in Spain and Portugal.
Beyond the fairways, Marrakech delivered its own magic. An evening of belly dancing and entertainment, along with an exploration of the bustling Medina and the magnificent Royal Palace surroundings, provided a memorable finale to our journey.
Three Countries. Twenty Days. Memories for a Lifetime.
From royal pageantry and historic cities to championship golf, luxury resorts, fine wines and unforgettable local experiences, our fourth Spain, Portugal & Morocco Golf Tour was another wonderful adventure.
A huge thank you to everyone who joined us and helped make this tour so special. The golf was outstanding, the experiences were extraordinary, and the friendships made along the way are what touring is all about.
